Bark Avenue Brighton Outtakes from Santa Paws visit!

Santa Paws had a great visit on the weekend to Bark Avenue. He saw plenty of cute pooches and even a few cats this year!

Missy and Angel weren't quite sure....

But then everyone started to get into the swing of it.

Santa got lots and lots of kisses...

And a great big kissy lick from CJ (who looked super dashing in a sparkly tie!)


Sharyn brought Lassie in, who was much more in the mood for a hand shake than all that licking that was going on earlier!


Star's mum Barb came all prepared to give Santa's outfit a run for his money!

Chardonnay and Santa got a little funny.

Shamus & Milo were exhausted after their close up and didn't want to leave!

All in all it was a fun day had by all. Santa left on his sleigh back to the North Pole and promised to be back next year for more!

Santa Paws prepares for Bark Avenue photo shoot!

We've had word that Santa Paws is preparing his sleigh for his flight into Bark Avenue for this years annual Santa Paws photo shoot! He will be arriving at 69 Jetty Road Brighton on Saturday the 5th of December at 12pm and will stick around until 4pm. Plenty of time for lots of cuddles and photos!

Santa has been kind enough to do this years photos at last years prices! There are three packages available for Santa photos. The first is $20 - this includes 1 x 5x7" print & 4 x wallet prints. The next package is $25 - Which is for 10 x Flat Christmas Cards and envelopes. The last is $35 and gives you all of the above at a $10 saving - so you get 1 x 5x7" print, 4 x wallet prints & 10 x Flat Christmas Cards with envelopes.

Puppy safe after trip down the toilet!

It is a dramatic story of survival. A one-week-old puppy was accidentally flushed down a toilet in London and was trapped in a drain for 4 hours. A 4 year old was washing the dog when the animal went down the drain and got trapped in a waste pipe. The dog was located using special camera equipment about 20 mtrs from the house. Rescuers nudged the puppy towards a manhole cover and plucked it to safety.

Children love dogs but need to be supervised - especially around young puppies. Thankfully this time the story had a happy ending!

RSPCA Million Paws Walk Adelaide 2009

Bark Avenue will be at this years RSPCA Million Paws Walk. It is being held in Elder Park on Sunday the 17th of May. Registration starts at 9am on the day or you can register online and save by clicking here. Walk from 10am to 1pm on your choice of 2km or 5km walk. Great day out with your dog with lots to do and see on the day.

Tokyo Cat Cafe big business

It’s the kind of thing to make a cat lover swoon and a health inspector squirm; cat cafes are opening up all around Tokyo, and they are proving to be a big hit with locals.

Upon entering a cat café, customers are asked to take off their shoes, sanitise their hands, place their bag in a locker, and take an ID card. They can then take a seat, sip some tea, and receive visits from the resident cats.

The rules in one such café, Calico, are as follows:

· Wear your cat-access pass around your neck at all times

· No one under 5th grade may enter

· Cats too young to be held have scarves around their necks

· Do not hold or stroke a cat if it resists you

· Never wake a napping cat, and,

· Bringing cat nip or cat food to the cafe is strictly forbidden.

Two years ago, Calico was a rarity. Now there are as many as 39 cat café establishments in Tokyo and that number is expected to rise.

According to some, cat cafes fill a void in what is increasingly becoming a childless and aging nation. Those with more money and time can afford to keep their own cats and puppies, but for the rest who are starved of time or live in no-pet apartments, there are cat cafes.
